While columbarium units provide a respectful temporary storage solution, many Chinese families still prefer traditional ground burial for final peace. Below is a general procedure for ash interment:

• Select an auspicious date for burial according to the traditional Chinese calendar.

• The direct descendants of the deceased carry the urn to the burial site, accompanied by family members and a funeral director. Yellow ceremonial paper is burned inside the grave before placing the urn. The urn is then covered with a cloth of gold or silver, and personal items cherished by the deceased may also be placed inside.

• Blessed soil (Fuyin tu) is spread around and over the urn. The funeral director then seals the grave.

• Family members conduct a memorial ceremony, offering flowers and fruits.
