How to Design the Layout of a Columbarium (Underground Memorial Niche Space)?
Categorize:Technology News Columbarium Date:2025-09-21 Browse:2

Recently, while working on project proposals for clients, many have asked about the overall layout design of an underground memorial space. How can we create a more attractive and rational Columbarium design?

Many sales representatives tend to offer high-, mid-, and low-tier options to cover all customer segments. While this approach isn’t wrong, it often lacks appeal.

For example, a standard Columbarium niche may cost ¥10,000, while a premium one is priced at ¥40,000. If the upgrade only involves better materials for the cabinet or the door panel, the difference seems insignificant. Most customers would feel they have no better choice but to select one based on social status rather than genuine satisfaction.高端设计图片 (7)

My approach also includes three tiers—high, medium, and low—but with an additional option: family-style niches.

A recent news story caught many people’s attention:
In Zhongtang Town, Binhai New Area, Tianjin, a residential-looking complex consisting of 16 buildings with black-tinted windows has been developed. Inside, each floor contains about 25 units, ranging from 20 to 50 square meters, each adorned with a plaque saying “X Family Ancestral Hall” and a red flower.

Over six years, the price per square meter rose from ¥3,000 to ¥7,000, and demand still exceeds supply. This trend reflects two factors:

Traditional burial plots are often too expensive, so buying a property to house ashes has become an alternative—a tangible asset.

Centralizing ancestors’ remains in a “Family Ancestral Hall” makes worship more convenient and strengthens family bonds.

Therefore, when designing columbarium layouts for our clients at HuaHeng Columbarium Factory, Jiangxi, China, we include several high-end family-style niches. Affluent families can gather their ancestors in one dignified space for worship, avoiding the hassle of traveling to multiple locations during festivals like Qingming and Dongzhi.高端设计图片 (12)

In addition to family-style niches, we offer high-, medium-, and low-end options.
Our high-end products feature die-cast aluminum-magnesium alloy doors and aluminum alloy cabinets with greater depth. These can hold not only urns but also keepsakes such as diaries, certificates, medals, pipes, or glasses—items that were traditionally burned but can now be preserved permanently.

We also provide fully furnished interiors to give a sense of belonging to the departed.
For service-oriented locations, high-end users can enjoy customized services like substitute sweeping ceremonies, daily Buddhist chanting, or regular memorial ceremonies. By bundling services with products, we enhance customer satisfaction.

For mid- and low-end segments, we adapt the high-end product and service concepts with minor adjustments—details we can elaborate on later.天仙设计图 (50)

In summary, designing a Columbarium involves using high-end products to attract premium customers and create celebrity appeal, while low-end products can support partnerships with civil affairs departments for government resources. Mid-range products often become the main profit drivers. Combined with effective marketing, we can shift from simply selling columbarium units to promoting family cultural heritage—where honoring ancestors brings blessings to descendants.
